Bislig City logs no new Covid-19 cases, deaths

BUTUAN CITY – The Bislig City government in Surigao del Sur reported zero new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections and deaths in the area as of August 2.

In a report Wednesday, the Bislig City Information Office (CIO) said the city has only two remaining active Covid-19 cases as of Tuesday.

“Bislig City, as of August 2, has recorded 2,649 cumulative number of Covid-19 cases,” CIO said, adding that two new recoveries were also recorded during the period bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,495.

A total of 152 Covid-19-related deaths were also logged as of August 2.

“The remaining active cases represent 0.1 percent of the total cumulative number, 94.2 percent for the recoveries, and 5.7 percent for the number of deaths,” CIO said.

Despite the low cases of Covid-19, the city government continues to remind its residents to follow the health protocols and avail of the free vaccination program of the government.

As of July 29, a total of 58,922 residents are considered fully vaccinated with 8,471 individuals inoculated with booster shots.

Of the total number of fully vaccinated individuals, 17,340 belonged to A4 (frontline personnel in essential sectors), 15,594 in ROAP (rest of adult population), 8,715 in ROPP (rest of pediatric population aged 12-17), 7,336 in A2 (senior citizens), and 3,680 in A3 (persons with comorbidities).

A total of 2,351 individuals under the A1 (frontline health workers) are also fully vaccinated in the area, including the 2,274 in A5 (indigenous population), and the 1,632 in ROPP (rest of the pediatric population aged 5 to 11). (PNA)
