The Agusan del Sur Covid-19 update as of August 7, 2022.

BUTUAN CITY – Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane Jr. on Monday urged his unvaccinated constituents to avail of the government's free immunization program amid the rise in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the province.

“I call on those who are not yet fully vaccinated, while it is not yet late, to have yourselves vaccinated,” Cane said in a post on his Facebook account.

Data from the Provincial Health Office of Agusan del Sur (PHO-ADS) showed that 34 Covid-19 infections were recorded in the area over the weekend.

“Of the 16 new cases on Sunday, eight were unvaccinated individuals, two were partially vaccinated, and six were fully vaccinated,” the PHO-ADS reported.

The province now has a total of 16,399 cumulative number of Covid-19 cases, 126 active infections, 15,836 recoveries, and 437 deaths since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

Meanwhile, Cane also informed residents of the increasing number of admission of Covid-19 patients at the Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital (DOPMH), the province's primary medical facility.

The hospital reported Monday there are 23 confirmed Covid-19 cases and five probable cases at the facility, which only has 30 Covid-19 wards available.

At least 17 of the confirmed cases admitted to the facility were unvaccinated, the governor said. (PNA)
