NEW YORK – The US Senate on Sunday passed a sweeping USD430 billion bill intended to fight climate change, lower drug prices and raise some corporate taxes.
Following a marathon debate, the Senate approved the legislation, which is also known as the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, in a 51-50 vote, with the tie-breaking vote being cast by Vice President Kamala Harris.
All Republican senators stood against the bill, claiming this would worsen the economy.
The 755-page bill, which was defined as "the political and economic success” of the Biden administration before the Nov. 8 midterm elections, now goes to the House of Representatives, where it is expected to pass on Friday. (Anadolu)
