MANILA – A couple riding a bicycle sustained injuries after being hit by a bus along the EDSA Carousel in Pasay City.

The InterAgency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) on Tuesday posted details of the accident on Facebook.

According to I-ACT, the couple was attempting to enter the U-turn slot near the Heritage Hotel at the corner of EDSA and Roxas Boulevard at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday when they collided with a passenger bus.

Sa lakas ng impact, nagtamo ng malalaking sugat sa ulo at katawan ang dalawang biktima na hinihinalang tumama pa muna sa windshield ng bus bago sila tumilapon ng ilang metro (Due to the strong impact, the two victims sustained wounds to the heads and torsos and were suspected to have hit the bus windshield before being thrown away by several meters),” the report said.

Their bicycle was run over and completely destroyed.

Sila'y nilapitan ng first aid team ng I-ACT at PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) at nakipag-ugnayan para sa ambulansya ng Pasay City DRRMO (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office) upang madala sila sa malapit na pagamutan (They were assisted by the first aid team of the I-ACT and PCG and coordinated with the ambulance of the Pasay City DRRMO to bring them to a nearby hospital),” it said.

The EDSA Carousel is a bus rapid transit line that has an exclusive right-of-way on the EDSA Busway, the two inner lanes separated from normal road traffic by concrete barriers and steel bollards.

Since it began operation on June 1, 2020, there have been concrete barrier-related accidents, with some of the barriers replaced with steel bollards following a series of mishaps. (PNA)
