MANILA – Anti-narcotics operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) confiscated some PHP87.9 million worth of assorted illegal drugs from a couple in an operation early Wednesday.

In a statement, National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad said members of the QCPD's Drug Enforcement Unit arrested live-in partners Alvin Rapinian, 26; and Riza Bilbao, 25, during the buy-bust on 16th Avenue in Barangay San Roque in Cubao at around 2:30 a.m.

The operation stemmed from the tip of an informant who reported to the QCPD Police Station 7 the drug activities of the suspects.

An undercover cop acted as a poseur buyer and transacted with the couple, resulting in their arrest.

Seized from the two suspects were some 1.5 kilos of shabu worth PHP10.2 million; 85 kilos of dried marijuana worth PHP10.2 million; 35 kilos of kush (high-grade marijuana) worth PHP49 million; a kilo of cocaine worth PHP5.3 million; 7,549 ecstasy tablets worth PHP12.9 million, 57 pieces of small transparent plastic sachets containing suspected liquid marijuana; boxes and vape cartridges containing suspected cannabis oil, two weighing scales, a mobile phone, and the buy-bust money.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (PNA)
