BUTUAN CITY – The Land Transportation Office in the Caraga Region (LTO-13) has collected over PHP235.2 million worth of revenues during the first half of this year.

In an interview Thursday, LTO-13 Officer-In-Charge Danielo Merson Borja said the amount is 7.8 percent higher compared to the agency's PHP218 million revenue collection for the same period last year.

The number of motor vehicle registration handled by the agency also rose to 184,520 from January to June this year compared to 165,659 in the same period in 2021.

Data from LTO-13 also showed an increase in the number of license transactions to 133, 695 compared to last year’s 57,479 during the first semester.

“We are hopeful that we can surpass the overall collection of LTO Caraga last year,” Borja said, adding that the nine district offices throughout the region are intensifying their campaigns for renewal of registrations and licenses.

Last year, the LTO-13 managed to collect PHP397.4 million in revenues, with the LTO-Butuan District Office topping in terms of collections in the amount of PHP94.6 million.

Other district offices with high revenue collections in 2021 include the Patin-ay District Office in Agusan del Sur with PHP55,046,087; Surigao City District Office (PHP44,401,999); Cabadbaran City (PHP37,890,475); and Tandag City (PHP33,365,531).

“After six months this year, we already achieved more than one-half of the total revenue collections last year,” Borja said.

From January to June this year, the district office here still topped the list in collection with PHP53,541,564; followed by Cabadbaran (PHP31,936,816); Patin-ay (PHP30,549,938); Tandag (PHP19,681,804); and Bislig (PHP16,589,470).

Meanwhile, the operations division of LTO-13, particularly the Law Enforcement and Traffic Adjudication Service (LETAS), has also collected some PHP3.9 million revenue from January to June this year.

LTO-13 OIC operations chief Urbano Maglines Jr. remains confident that his division will exceed last year’s LETAS collection of PHP7.5 million.

“Notwithstanding our overall collection in the first six months this year, our collection in July already amounted to PHP985,730.16. I am optimistic that we can collect more by the end of this year,” Maglines said.

Aside from the LTO-13 district offices and the LETAS, revenues are also collected by the New Registration Division (NEWREG) of LTO-13.

During the first six months of this year, the NEWREG revenue collection has reached PHP41.1 million. (PNA)
