AgSur active Covid-19 cases rise to 156

BUTUAN CITY – Twenty-two new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections were recorded in Agusan del Sur as of Thursday, raising the number of active cases to 156, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) said.

Of the total active cases, the PHO said 140 are local transmissions while 16 are those with close contact and exposure with individuals positive to the virus.

As of Thursday, the total cumulative Covid-19 cases in the province has reached 16,469, or 2.1 percent of Agusan del Sur's population.

“Of the total number of infections, 13,504 are local transmissions and 2,778 are with close contact or exposure to persons positive of the virus,” the PHO-ADS said.

It said 93 of the total cases are stranded individuals who returned to the province; 50 with a travel history to areas of high cases of infections; 43 are returning overseas Filipino workers, and one case is considered under investigation.

 The province also logged a cumulative 15,876 recoveries and 437 Covid-19-related deaths as of Thursday, the PHO-ADS said.

The total recoveries represent 96.4 percent of the cumulative number of cases with deaths at 2.65 percent, according to the agency. (PNA)
