ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor John Dalipe on Friday reiterated his call for residents to get vaccinated and boosted as cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) continued to increase in recent days.

Dalipe issued the call as City Health Office data released Friday showed active Covid-19 cases rose to 248, with 288 cases of reinfection logged since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

“Get vaccinated and get your booster dose when it is your turn to obtain an added layer of protection against Covid-19,” he said.

Of the total 248 active cases, 243 are from the community, two authorized persons outside residence, two detainees, and one returning overseas Filipino.

Meanwhile, the government-owned Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) said it has admitted 33 Covid-19 patients.

In a statement Friday, the ZCMC said out of the 33 Covid-19 patients, 29 are from Zamboanga City, one from Zamboanga Sibugay, one from Zamboanga del Norte, one from Basilan, and one from Sulu.

Dalipe recently formed the City Risk Communication and Demand Generation Team to conduct an advocacy campaign to increase the city's vaccination rate.

In collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), the team also conducts an awareness campaign on the prevention of dengue and monkeypox. (PNA)
