BUTUAN CITY – The Coast Guard District in North Eastern Mindanao (CGDNEM) in Surigao City opened Monday a five-day Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) training here to ensure that personnel are equipped with water rescue capabilities.

In a statement Monday, the CGDNEM said 26 of its personnel joined the WASAR training, which also includes basic life support instruction.

“The 26 personnel will also undergo drills in different water evolutions to enhance their skills for immediate response in any event of maritime disaster,” the CGDNEM said.

The training is carried out under the direction of Commodore Eduardo de Luna Jr., the CGDNEM commander. (PNA)
