CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao ordered Tuesday the full vaccination of both government and private sector workers engaging the public in their jobs.

Siao's Executive Order (EO) 12-A mandates government and private workers to get fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The order covers the academe and vendors who must be vaccinated, including booster doses.

“Defeating Covid-19 requires nothing less than a tri-effort between the city, the barangays, and its citizens,” Siao said.

Siao also directed the barangay chairpersons to intensify social mobilization activities “to generate demand for vaccination.”

Meanwhile, as the opening of classes in public schools approaches, Siao also requires that only those who are fully vaccinated, and with a booster shot, can interact with students.

Siao said he issued the EO because Covid-19 cases “have been rising citywide.”

As of Aug. 15, Iligan City's Emergency Operation Center Health Cluster has recorded 57 active cases and 12 new recoveries.

Of the active cases, 24 were admitted in Covid-19 hospital wards, three in the isolation facility, and 30 under home quarantine.

Meanwhile, Siao also issued an order reimposing a liquor ban effective Aug. 10. It prohibits the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks from midnight to 6 a.m. daily. (PNA)
