MANILA – Two most wanted persons (MWP) by the Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) were arrested in separate operations in Leyte and Cebu.

In a statement Friday, ACG director Brig. Gen. Joel Doria said suspect Nimfa Cinto, 48, was arrested in Barangay Salvacion, Palo, Leyte on Aug. 11.

Cinto, the ACG's top seven MWP, has a warrant of arrest for cyber libel issued by a court in Tacloban City.

On the same day, Alvin Anticamara, a 38-year-old system engineer was arrested in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Anticamara, the ACG's top eight MWP, is wanted for four counts of violation of Republic Act 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) by the Cebu City Regional Trial Court.

Doria said that the arrest of the two wanted persons were the result of extensive social media investigation, cyber-patrolling, and proper coordination with other government and law enforcement agencies.

"We will improve our capability and must rise to the challenge in fighting the upsurge of cybercrime and cyber-related offenses towards the attainment of a safer and more secure cyber environment. This is the only way we can contribute to the peace and security Framework of the Chief PNP (Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr.) known as M+K+K = K or 'Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayapaan tungo sa Kaunlaran',” said Doria. (PNA)
