ZAMBOANGA CITY – Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Zamboanga Peninsula  (CIDG-9) arrested Friday the suspect behind the killing of four members of a family in April this year in Midsalip town in Zamboanga del Sur province.

Colonel John Francis Encinareal, CIDG-9 director, said Mario Ramos, 30, was arrested in an operation around 5 a.m. in Barangay Tulbong, Midsalip.

Ramos has a standing warrant of arrest for four counts of murder with no recommended bail dated Aug. 16, 2022 issued by the court of Aurora in Zamboanga del Sur province.

Encinareal said Ramos, the fifth most wanted person in the town of Midsalip, was behind the killing of a couple and their two children, who were all minors, in April this year, in Barangay Tulbong, Midsalip.

The suspect allegedly killed first the husband, who was at that time fetching water, and then barged into the victim’s home and slit the throat of the wife and two children.

A fifth member of the family, a one-year child, was unscathed.

Encinareal said the suspect was placed under the temporary custody of the CIDG-Zamboanga del Sur office. (PNA)
