BUTUAN CITY – Three separate law enforcement operations conducted last week in Caraga Region have resulted in the arrest of four high-value targets (HVTs) and the seizure of over PHP1.4 million worth of illegal drugs.
Dindo Abellanosa, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Caraga Region (PDEA-13) information officer, said the biggest haul in the series of operations took place last Thursday in Barangay Taganito in Claver town, Surigao del Norte province, where some PHP609,796 worth of suspected shabu was recovered.
Abellanosa said Jesus Fortuna was arrested by PDEA-13 and Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office operatives during a buy-bust.
“Seized from the possession of Fortuna were sachets of shabu weighing around 121.9 grams,” Abellanosa said in an interview Monday.
Meanwhile, he said two other drug suspects were also collared during a buy-bust in Barangay Mate in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, last Friday.
He identified the suspects as Andres Carba and Cherry Plaza, who yielded 59.4 grams of shabu worth PHP475,625.
On Aug. 15, police also conducted a buy-bust in Barangay Comawas in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, resulting in the arrest of Joseph Jayoma and the recovery of 50 grams of shabu worth PHP350,000.
Abellanosa said cases in violation of the provisions of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were already filed against all the arrested suspects. (PNA)
