SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Coast Guard in Antique on Tuesday canceled all trips going to Occidental Mindoro and Palawan due to "strong to gale force winds" brought by Tropical Storm Florita.

“The Coast Guard Antique Station has also canceled the trips of the motorboats from Lipata Port to Mararison island in Culasi because of the rough to very rough sea condition,” said Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDDRMO) Broderick Train, who was furnished a copy of the advisory from the Coast Guard.

Three passenger vessels ply the Libertad to Caluya port and then to Occidental Mindoro and Palawan, while 15 boats travel the Lipata port to Mararison route in Culasi town, Antique.

Because of the inclement weather, Train said fishermen were also advised to refrain from going out to the sea.

Students in upland areas were warned to be extra-careful going to school due to possible landslide due to the moderate and
heavy rainfall since Monday.

“So far, the Department of Public Works and Highways has not yet reported any major road affected by the landslide though,
especially the one in the boundary of Hamtic, Antique and in San Joaquin, Iloilo,” Train said.

There was no reported flooding requiring evacuation by the local government units.

The PDRRMO said they continue to monitor the situation in the province with the assistance of their local counterparts. (PNA)
