6 nat'l roads still closed in 'Florita' aftermath

MANILA – Six national road sections in two regions are closed to traffic due to the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

Based on the report of the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance as of Wednesday noon, six roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and one in Cagayan Valley were closed due to landslides, fallen trees, and flooding.

Among the closed road sections in CAR are the Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, Namaltugan, Calanasan, Apayao due to road cut and soil collapse and the Mt. Province - Ilocos Sur Road via Tue, Beto Section, Tue, Tadian, Mt. Province due to rock and slope collapse.

Also not passable to vehicles are the Abra Kalinga Road sections in Subagan, Baay- Licuan sections in Duldulao, Malibcong, Abra due to soil collapse; Itogon-Dalupirip Road, Sitio Twin River, Poblacion, Itogon, Benguet due to soil collapse and fallen trees; and Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road in Ampusongan and Gakian, Gambang, in Bakun, Benguet due to soil collapse.

Meanwhile, the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Road, Cabagan Overflow Bridge in Isabela is closed due to high water elevation.

Meanwhile, the DPWH advised motorists that around 20 roads in several Northern Luzon areas have limited access due to slope/soil collapse and landslide.

The roads that are currently one-lane passable are the Mt. Province - Ilocos Sur via Tue, sections in Naguilian, Calanasan, Apayao due to soil collapse; Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road, Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet due to soil collapse; Asin - Nangalisan - San Pascual – La Union Boundary Road, Sitio Lasong, BarangayTadiangan, Tuba, Benguet due to rock fall with fallen trees; Apayao - Ilocos Norte Road, Madatag, Kabugao, Apayao due to landslide; Itogon - Dalupirip Road, Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet due to soil collapse; Cong. Andres Acop Cosalan Road, K0321+575, Sitio Batengan, Barangay Adaoay, Kabayan, Benguet due to soil collapse; Nueva Vizcaya - Ifugao - Mt. Province Boundary Road, several sections in Bolog, Kiangan; Cudog, Lagawe; Namulditan, Hingyon, Ifugao due to rock collapse.

Other roads that have limited access are the Kiangan - Tinoc - Buguias Road, several sections in Poblacion and Julongan, Kiangan; Gumhang and Ap-apid, Tinoc, Ifugao due to soil collapse; Banaue - Hungduan - Benguet Boundary Road, Abatan, Hungduan, Ifugao due to soil collapse; Mt. Province - Calanan - Pinukpuk - Abbut Road (Cagaluan - Calanan Section), Bagumbayan, Tabuk City, Kalinga due to clogged drains with mud flow; Mt. Province - Calanan - Pinukpuk - Abbut Road (Pinukpuk - Abbut Section), Katabbogan, Pinukuk, Kalinga due to clogged drains with mud flow; Balbalan-Pinukpuk Road, Malagat, Pinukpuk, Kalinga due to rock collapse; Tabuk - Banawe Road and Mabaca, Tanudan, Kalinga due to soil collapse; Mt. Province Boundary - Calanan - Pinukpuk - Abbut Road, Ambato, Tinglayan and K0454+200, Manangol, Lubuagan, Kalinga due to soil collapse.

In Ilocos Region, roads that are not passable to light vehicles are the Luna- Bangar Road due to flooding; Santa Rancho Road, Calungbuyan Bridge in Ilocos Sur due to slight settling down of approaches and damaged embankment slope protection; and Tagudin - Cervantes Road intermittent sections due to landslide.

Other roads that have limited access are some portions of the Jct. Santiago-Banayoyo-Lidlidda-San Emilio- Quirino Road due to landslide; Cervantes-Aluling-Bontoc Road, K0387+950, Barangay Aluling, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur due to damaged slope protection; and the Jct. Candon - Salcedo - del Pillar Road due to damaged pavement and landslide.

The DPWH added that a total of 990 personnel with 117 equipment from DPWH offices in Cordillera, Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley have been deployed to ensure swift clearing and reopening of affected national roads and bridges. (PNA)
