3 arrested, over P1-M shabu seized in Naga City

LEGAZPI CITY – Police operatives collared illegal drug peddlers and seized over PHP1 million worth of suspected shabu in a drug buy-bust in Naga City on Thursday morning.

In a statement, Maj. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) spokesperson, identified the suspects as Rodel Palmiano, 47, and Charlie Sandigan, 40; both from Zone 3, San Felipe, Naga City.

"They were taken by the police authorities at about 3:30 in the morning in an operation conducted by Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 5 together with City Intelligence Unit (CIU) and Police Station 3 (PS3) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional office," Calubaquib said.

She said the suspects sold 50 grams of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for PHP50,000.

"After a body search, another 25 small plastic heat-sealed transparent sachets were also seized from their possession. A total of 150 grams of shabu amounting to PHP1,020,000 were confiscated from their custody and control," Calubaquib added.

Meanwhile, a drug-listed individual was also nabbed by police operatives in Barangay Sta. Cruz, also in Naga City.

The suspect was identified as Herjel Malaga, 34, a resident of Barangay Sabang in the said city.

Confiscated from his possession was PHP4,080 worth of suspected “shabu”.

The arrested suspects are now under the custody of the respective apprehending stations to face cases in violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
