Caraga logs 257 new infections, 311 recoveries in 1 week

BUTUAN CITY – At least 257 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections were recorded across Caraga Region from Aug. 21 to 27, the regional Department of Health office (DOH-13) said Wednesday.

Agusan del Sur logged the most number of new cases with 97; followed by Surigao del Sur with 28; Agusan del Norte, 16; Surigao del Norte, 6; and Dinagat Islands with a single case.

In the cities, 53 new cases were recorded in Butuan; 23 in Bislig; 16 in Tandag; nine in Bayugan; six in Cabadbaran; and two in Surigao.

DOH-13 noted, however, that the latest number of active cases is lower compared to the 469 recorded in the previous week.

“With the new infections, Caraga Region now has a total of 407 active Covid-19 cases,” the agency said in its weekly report.

The same data also showed that 311 new recoveries and eight Covid-19 related deaths were tallied during the period.

The cumulative number of cases in the region is now placed at 60,552, and recoveries at 57,894.

Deaths related to Covid-19 stand at 2,251, the agency said. (PNA)
