CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment in the Northern Mindanao (DOLE-10) has resolved 100 percent of employer-employee disputes in the first semester of this year, an official said Wednesday.

In a statement, DOLE-10 Director Albert Gutib said through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) system, various satellite offices in the region managed to attend to the 431 requests for assistance (RFA).

Gutib said DOLE-10 has surpassed its target of 85 percent for January to June 2022's settlement rate.

"This means that in the first semester, 772 workers were able to receive a total of PHPP9,427,300 monetary benefits," Gutib said, noting that this was an improvement of the settlement rate from last year’s first semester of 72 percent.

The SEnA program is an administrative approach to provide a speedy, impartial, inexpensive, and accessible settlement procedure for all issues or complaints when it comes to matters of employer-employee relations before it becomes "full-blown" disputes.

Under this approach, all labor and employment disputes shall undergo a 30-day mandatory conciliation-mediation process to effect settlement among the contending parties.

A recent dispute resolution made under SEnA was in Lanao del Norte, where labor desk officer Annie Raidah Mua received a complaint by an employee against a certain establishment in Iligan City for non-payment of overtime, holiday, and separation pay.

Mua responded by scheduling a mandatory conciliation-mediation conference between the complainant and the respondent on August 1.

During the scheduled conference, Mua highlighted the compliance with labor standards to both parties, resulting in the agreement of a full claim settlement in the amount of PHP150,000.

The whole amount was immediately given to the requesting party. (PNA)
