MANILA -- TNT Tropang Giga moved to within a win from its second straight PBA Philippine Cup title with a 102-93 win against San Miguel Beermen in Game 5 of the finals on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The PLDT franchise nearly blew a comfortable lead to start the fourth quarter as it felt the absence of the injured Jayson Castro, but its big men came through with the needed baskets, and the team secured a pivotal 3-2 lead in their best-of-seven series.

The Tropang Giga found themselves in trouble after the Beermen came to within four, 91-95, entering the last two minutes of the game.

However, TNT veteran centers Poy Erram and Kelly Williams delivered clutch baskets just as the game reached the twilight zone to close out SMB.

Mikey Williams led the Tropang Giga, who can close out the series on Friday night, with 23 points, four rebounds, and five assists.

The other Williams, Kelly, added 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting including 4-of-6 on threes, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals. (PNA)
