MANILA – The Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) has earned recognition for promoting the Filipino language in public service.

The OPS, led by Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles, received Wednesday the Selyo ng Kahusayan sa Serbisyo Publiko (Seal of Excellence in Public Service) from the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF).

In a Facebook post, the OPS thanked the KWF for awarding the second level seal and acknowledging the office’s initiatives to use Filipino language in its official transactions and communications.

“Tayo po ay patuloy na makikiisa sa KWF sa kanilang layunin na itaguyod ang Filipino bilang wika ng serbisyo publiko (We will continue to join the KWF in attaining its goal to promote the Filipino language in public service),” it said.

Cruz-Angeles, in a separate statement posted on her official Facebook page, expressed elation over the conferment of the KWF award and vowed that her office will ensure the continued promotion of the Filipino language.

She said the recognition proves the OPS’ efforts to deliver the right information to the public by using the Filipino language.

“Asahan ninyo na patuloy pa natin na itataguyod ang paggamit ng wikang Filipino bilang wika ng serbisyo publiko - mula sa ating mga content dito sa social media, pagtugon sa mga tanong ng media, at pagbibigay ng pahayag o mga anunsyo para sa publiko (Expect that we will continue promoting the Filipino language in public service — from our social media contents, to our response to media queries, to our public statements and announcements),” she said.

The OPS was one of the 29 government agencies and units that received the seal from KWF for the consistent use of Filipino language at the forefront of their governance and public service.

The KWF held the awarding rites at the Diamond Hotel in Manila on Wednesday.

The Department of Agriculture headed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and the Department of Education led by Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio were also among the 29 recipients of KWF’s Seal of Excellence in Public Service.

The KWF, in a statement on its official Facebook page, thanked the government agencies and units for giving importance to the Filipino language.

The awarding of the seal of excellence is among the KWF's activities for the nationwide celebration of the annual Buwan ng Wika (National Language Month) in August. (PNA)
