237 new Covid-19 infections, 164 recoveries logged in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – Caraga Region has tallied 237 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections and 164 recoveries from Aug. 28 to Sept. 3, the region’s Department of Health (DOH-13) said Tuesday.

In its weekly report, the DOH-13 said the new infections brought the total cumulative cases in the region to 60,791.

Active cases in the region now stand at 476, the agency said.

Of the new cases last week, 87 were recorded in Agusan del Sur, 37 in Surigao del Sur,18 in Agusan del Norte, and 10 in Surigao del Norte.

Thirty-five new cases were also logged in Butuan City, 22 in Surigao City, 17 in Tandag City, five in Bayugan City, and three each in the cities of Bislig and Cabadbaran.

Meanwhile, the DOH-13 said the 164 new recoveries last week have brought the cumulative recoveries in Caraga to 58,058.

Six new deaths were also reported during the period, bringing the total number of Covid-19-related deaths in the region to 2,257.

Meanwhile, the Dinagat Island Police Provincial Office (DIPPO) said 53 of its personnel received second booster shots of Covid-19 vaccines.

In a statement Tuesday, the DIPPO said the vaccination on Monday was facilitated by the Rural Health Unit of San Jose municipality.

It said the DIPPO personnel who received booster shots included police commissioned officers, police non-commissioned officers, and non-uniformed employees. (PNA)
