MANILA – The Diocese of Bayombong reported on Tuesday that Bishop Jose Elmer Mangalinao is now recovering after undergoing a successful major operation.

“We are glad to inform you that Bishop Jose Elmer Mangalinao had a successful coronary angioplasty procedure. Please continue to pray for him for his speedy recovery as he is still in critical but stable condition,” the diocese added in a Facebook post.

It noted that the bishop is not accepting visitors, but appreciates all those who wish him well.

“We appreciate all the well-wishers so much for showing love and prayers for our dear Bishop and wanting to visit him. Please note that we cannot accept visitors as of this time as the Bishop heals. We need him to rest and recover so he can heal fast and be able to be with us all again,” the post said.

It also called on the faithful to refrain from calling the nurse’s station "so that the nurses taking care of him will not be pulled away from him”.

Last week, the diocese reported that the 62–year-old prelate was rushed to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing. (PNA)
