MANILA – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) met with the members of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) in response to their claims about widespread kidnapping cases of Filipino-Chinese residents in the region.
In a statement on Friday, NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said Thursday's meeting with the business group was aimed at reassuring that such claims are not in conformity with their records.
"Wala pong kidnapping na nangyayari. Kahit po sa ibang city wala po tayong ganyan mga kaso, hindi po ito totoo. Kung mayroon man po tayong natanggap na reklamo, lahat po ito ay naresolved na ng kapulisan (There is no kidnapping happening. Even in other cities, we don't have such cases, this is not true. If we have received any complaints, all of them have been resolved by the police)," Estomo said.
Based on data from January to August this year, only four cases of kidnapping for ransom and six cases of illegal detention have been reported in Metro Manila -- all of which were solved and resulted in the rescue of the victims and the arrest of the suspects.
Estomo also gave the members an overview of the roadmap on providing top-notch police services -- the "S.A.F.E. NCRPO" which stands for Seen, Appreciated, Felt, and Extraordinary police officers in the community.
"Makakaasa kayo na mas paiigtingin pa naming mga pulis na nagpapatrol sa mga lansangan para masigurado ang katahimikan at kaayusan sa mga komunidad. Gayundin, ang pagsasakatupan ng air to ground operation upang mas mapadali at siguradong walang takas ang mga kriminal na ating tinutugis (You can count on our police officers patrolling the streets to ensure peace and order in the communities. Also, the coverage of the air to ground operation to make it easier and sure that the criminals we are targeting do not escape)," he said.
The FCCCII community has been continuously supporting the police force in its endeavors to include the maintenance of peace and order.
"Kaugnay nito hinihingi ko ang inyong patuloy na suporta at tulong upang maisakatuparan natin ang mga ito. At sa mga miyembro ng Chinese community, kung mayroon kayong mga suhestyon at rekomendasyon kung paano namin kayo tutulungan ay ipagbigay alam lang ninyo at ito ang aming gagawin (In this regard, I ask for your continued support and help so that we can accomplish them. And to the members of the Chinese community, if you have any suggestions and recommendations on how we can help you, just let us know and we will do so)," Estomo said. (PNA)
