MANILA – Aljun Melecio found his way back to a former college mentor after he was traded by Phoenix to Converge along with Kris Porter.

Melecio will rejoin coach Aldin Ayo with the FiberXers after the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) approved the swap with the Fuel Masters on Friday.

In exchange, Phoenix acquired Ben Adamos and Kurt Lojera.

Melecio was a freshman at La Salle when Ayo led the team to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines championship in 2016.

Interestingly, the Green Archers beat Porter and the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the finals that year.

The trade was timely for the Fuel Masters as their star slotman, Jason Perkins, underwent knee surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.

Adamos will shore up Phoenix's frontline, now led by Sean Anthony and Larry Muyang.

Ayo took over from Jeffrey Cariaso last month.

The PBA resumes with the Commissioner's Cup on September 21. (PNA)
