PH daily Covid-19 cases dip by 10% from Sept. 5-11

MANILA – The daily average of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases went down by 10 percent for the period Sept. 5 to 11, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.

From 2,449 per day recorded from Aug. 29 to Sept. 4, the number decreased to 2,197 daily in the recent week.

The latest case bulletin showed there were 15,379 new cases and 300 verified deaths.

Of the additional deaths, the DOH said 108 occurred from Sept. 9 to 11.

In the same period, 12 cases were added to the tally of severe and critical infections, which went down to 727 from the previous week’s 768.

Only 23.9 percent or 594 out of the 2,485 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are in use, while 298.2 percent or 5,925 of 21, 020 non-ICU beds are utilized.

To date, about 72,770, 721 or 93.18 percent of the country’s target population (78,100,578) are vaccinated against Covid-19, including 78.18 percent of 8,721,357 senior citizens.

As of Sept. 11, a total of 18,552,043 have received booster shots out of the fully vaccinated population. (PNA)
