MANILA – The rate of fresh 10-year Treasury bond (T-bond) fell on Tuesday and the demand for the debt paper was high.

The average rate of the securities, which will be issued on Sept. 15, 2022, slipped to 6.703 percent from 7.145 percent previously.

Its coupon rate stood at 6.75 percent, which National Treasurer Rosalia de Leon, in a Viber message, said is about 100 basis points higher than in the secondary market.

De Leon said the drop in the T-bond’s rate is comparable to that of the previous auction.

Asked if this turnout is within the auction committee’s expectations, she said: Yes.

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) offered the T-bond for PHP35 billion, which was fully awarded.

Total bids reached PHP99.311 billion. (PNA)
