MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday partnered with Dermalog -- a biometrics security company -- to solve problems and improve the user experience for its online portal known as the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS).

In a statement, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Teofilo Guadiz III said they recently met with the company to discuss how to improve business processes and solutions, one of which is to activate the Motor Vehicle Registration Information System (MVRIS) on the LTMS to help reduce queuing in LTO offices.

“I fully support MVRIS in the public portal of LTMS for the renewal of vehicles as this will greatly reduce the lines in our offices. With this activation it will be possible to renew your vehicles without needing to line up at LTO offices around the country,” Guadiz said.

In the coming days, he said LTO and Dermalog officials will finalize the implementation of the online registration system.

The partnership comes after the LTMS suffered slowdowns over the previous weeks resulting in backlogs in LTO offices.

In response, Dermalog assured that assistance will be given to the LTO to resolve such issues and make their processes “more responsive and adaptive.”

The LTMS, accessible at https://portal.lto.gov.ph, currently allows the public to apply for a renewal of their driver’s license and provides access to online learning resources. (PNA)
