MANILA – The Philippine Airlines (PAL) has canceled six flights to and from Japan scheduled for Monday due to bad weather.

These flights were: PR 438/437 Manila-Nagoya-Manila; PR 426/425 Manila-Fukuoka-Manila; and PR 412/411 Manila-Osaka-Manila.

The Manila International Airport Authority said as of 9 a.m. Monday, no other carrier has canceled its flights between Japan and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

On Sunday, public broadcaster NHK reported that 2 million residents of Japan's southern island of Kyushu have been warned to evacuate as Typhoon Nanmadol approaches the country.

People were warned against high winds, storm surges and torrential rains in the region.

The Japanese government has advised people in the affected areas to find alternative accommodations that can withstand extreme weather. (PNA)
