PRO-13 touts 2-year accomplishment vs. illegal drugs

BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) has highlighted its accomplishment in the last two years, bannered by the seizure of illegal drugs worth PHP30 million.

Maj. Jennifer Ometer, the PRO-13 information chief, in an interview Tuesday said the accomplishment were  recorded during the term of Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., who has been serving as PRO-13 director since Sept. 17, 2020.

Records from the PRO-13’s Regional Operations Division indicated that 899 operations against illegal drugs were conducted from Sept. 17, 2020, to Sept. 17, 2022.

At least 856 drug suspects were arrested, and 3,462 grams of illegal drugs were confiscated worth PHP30 million.

On illegal logging, at least 1,089 separate operations were also conducted during the period, resulting in the arrest of 888 suspects and the seizure of 1,106,974 board feet of hot logs worth PHP37.3 million.

During the period, some 1,254 communist New People’s Army rebels have surrendered, 416 were arrested, and 594 firearms were recovered.

In the intensified campaign against wanted persons, at least 7,663 suspects, 206 of whom were wanted at the regional level, were collared.

A total of 3,079 operations against loose firearms were also conducted with 586 individuals arrested and 751 firearms seized.

The intensified campaign against loose firearms also resulted in the turnover of 2,066 firearms, the report said.

Caramat, in a separate statement, recognized the support of the different stakeholders in the region which contributed to the PRO-13’s achievements. (PNA)
