LEGAZPI CITY – At least 111 indigent senior citizens have received cash assistance from the local government unit (LGU) of Camalig town as part of its advocacy to improve their condition by augmenting their daily needs.

Camalig Mayor Carlos Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., in a social media post on Friday, said the beneficiaries were senior citizens aged 90-99 years old in the town.

"The house-to-house payout that started early this week is set to accommodate 111 senior citizens, rewarding cash aid of PHP5,000 for each beneficiary," Baldo said.

He said the intervention was carried out pursuant to a municipal ordinance which seeks to provide full support to improve the total well-being of the elderly and recognize their important contribution in nation-building.

"The payout is also in consonance with the local government's objectives in promoting an inclusive approach in public service, ensuring that senior citizens will not be left behind in the delivery of basic services and timely assistance," he added. (PNA)
