Over P1-M ‘shabu’ seized from passenger at Bacolod port

BACOLOD CITY – Joint anti-drug operatives seized PHP1.02 million worth of suspected shabu from a passenger bound for Iloilo during an inspection at the Bredco port here on Sunday afternoon, a report of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Western Visayas (PDEA-6) showed.

The suspect was identified as Rhemhon Sonza Dumancas, 36, resident of Barangay Patlad, Dumangas, Iloilo.

According to the report, Dumancas was at the port at around 5 p.m. but refused to undergo inspection, and instead went to the comfort room to dispose a package.

When it was checked, operatives found a big knot-tied and a small knot-tied transparent plastic packs containing the prohibited substance.

The seized items, weighing around 150 grams and priced at PHP6,800 per gram, totaled PHPP1.02 million.

The PDEA-Negros Occidental Provincial Office, which led the operation, said in a report that Dumancas serves as a runner of a drug group, and investigation is being conducted to determine the source of the drug supply.

The suspect, who is detained at the Bacolod City Police Office Police Station 2, is facing charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
