CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is conducting clearing operations in some areas in Central Luzon which were hit by Super Typhoon Karding.
Based on the situational reports coming from the DPWH District Engineering Offices in the region on Monday, there are some road sections that were closed to traffic due to floods, landslides, mudslides, and other obstructions caused by the fury of the typhoon.
In Nueva Ecija, half lane of the Daang Maharlika highway in Barangay Mayapyap, Cabanatuan City is now passable.
Likewise, the Sta. Rosa-Tarlac Road in Barangay Malabon Kaingin, Jaen, and the Gapan-Fort Magsaysay Road in Barangay Padolina, General Tinio are now passable to light vehicles after fallen electric posts were removed.
Engr. Kevin Garcia of the DPWH-Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office said that some 40 utility poles along a 2-kilometer stretch of the Sta. Rosa-Tarlac Road were toppled.
He also said eight poles fell along Daang Maharlika in Barangay Mayapyap, Cabanatuan City.
In Zambales, all national roads and bridges are passable to all types of vehicles.
However, the DPWH-Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office reported flooding in some areas along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue and Olongapo-Bugallon Road in Olongapo City; Mataain, Calapandayan, Mangan Vaca, and Pamatawan villages, all in Subic and Barangay San Nicolas in Castillejos.
In Tarlac, all national roads and bridges are also passable to all types of vehicles.
The DPWH-Tarlac First District Engineering Office said ongoing clearing operations along Manila North Road are being conducted.
In Aurora, a closed section of Nueva Ecija-Aurora road is now passable to vehicles after landslides have been cleared while the Diteki River Detour Road is still closed to traffic.
In Bataan, all national roads and bridges are also passable to all types of vehicles.
However, the DPWH-Bataan First District Engineering Office reported that there are still flooded areas along Jose Abad Santos Avenue, Junction Layac Balanga -Mariveles Port Road, and Roman Expressway.
In Pampanga, all the national roads and bridges are also now passable to all types of vehicles.
The DPWH-Pampanga Third District Engineering Office said the maintenance team is now conducting clearing operations along the road sections of Manila North Road in Barangay Tabun, Mabalacat City, Dau-NLEX Road, and Arayat-Mabalacat-Magalang Road. (PNA)
