BALER, Aurora – At least 13,467 residents in this province were displaced by the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding.

Engineer Elson A. Egargue, chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said in an interview on Monday that the affected families are those living in high-risk areas and they were evacuated to safer grounds at the height of the typhoon.

The town of Dingalan has the highest number of affected residents, with 4,382; followed by Dipaculao with 3,991; Baler, 1,349; Dilasag, 947; Casiguran, 861; San Luis, 727; Dinalungan, 617; and Maria Aurora with 593.

The power supply was cut off in the whole province at 5:10 p.m. Sunday and has not yet been restored as of this posting.

Egargue noted that all roads leading to this province are passable and accessible except the Baler-Villa-Bongabon Road and Diteki River detour due to landslides and fallen trees.

He added that no flooding was reported so far and all communication lines are stable.

Egargue also said the assessment of damage to houses, infrastructure, agriculture and others is ongoing. (PNA)
