3.7M Covid-19 vax administered in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – At least 3,774,372 million doses of the coronavirus disease 2021 (Covid-19) vaccines have been administered in the Caraga region as of October 1, the regional health office said in a report Tuesday.

The Department of Health (DOH) 13 (Caraga) said 1,734,206 residents in the region have been fully vaccinated as of October 1.

“The total number of fully vaccinated individuals represents 89.96 percent of the target number of population for vaccination in the region,” it said.

Vaccination drives in Caraga have been intensified since the launch of the Bakunahang Bayan PinasLakas Special Vaccination Days from September 26 to 30.

The campaign aims to encourage more residents to avail themselves of the free Covid-19 vaccines from the government amid the continuing threat of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the DOH-13 said 147 new infections were recorded last week, bringing the total cumulative cases in the region to 61,469.

During the same period, the region logged 339 remaining active cases with 58,837 recoveries and 2,293 Covid-19-related deaths.

Last week’s new cases were recorded in Agusan del Sur with 63, Surigao del Sur with 15, Agusan del Norte with six, and Surigao del Norte with three.

In the cities, 28 cases were recorded in Butuan, 11 in Bayugan, eight in Tandag, seven in Bislig, five in Cabadbaran, and one in Surigao.

The province of Dinagat Islands continues to register zero Covid-19 infections as of last week. (PNA)
