LEGAZPI CITY – Some 800 public school teachers here have received free tablets from the city government.

In an interview on Wednesday, Councilor Joseph Philip Lee, Committee Chair on Education, Arts and Culture, said the free tablets are intended to augment the teachers' need for gadgets to efficiently deliver their online class activities.

"This is just an initial number the city government is planning to distribute to public school teachers serving students within the city," he said.

As the country celebrates National Teachers' Month and World Teachers' Day on Wednesday, Lee said the project is a gesture of gratitude for the teacher's dedication even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. (With a report from Emmanuel Solis/PNA)
