MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is looking forward to a possible partnership and more fruitful engagements with the Ayala Foundation Inc.

This, as DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo met with representatives of the Ayala Foundation Inc. in a courtesy call on Wednesday.

In a statement Thursday, the DSWD said Tulfo and the foundation shared commitments to the timely delivery of social protection programs and services to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors, and to provide assistance to Filipinos during disasters and other crises.

Tulfo also recognized the contributions of the foundation in the attainment of the country’s development goals, particularly in their commitment to making an improvement in the lives of Filipinos.

“We, in the government, have always acknowledged the significant roles of the private sector in nation-building. We recognize that the whole of nation approach is vital in achieving the aspiration of empowering the poor for an improved level of well-being,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ayala Foundation president Ruel Maranan assured that the foundation will continue to provide support and assistance to Filipinos in difficult times.

“The Ayala Foundation has always been trying to align and will continuously align with DSWD initiatives. We firmly believe that partnering with our government, national and local levels, will be the best and proper way to be able to augment a lot of the requirements of our very own people,” Maranan said.

The DSWD, Tulfo added, will continue to forge partnerships with the private sector, who are willing to ally with the government, in pursuit of protecting and promoting the well-being of Filipinos. (PNA)
