MANILA – Some business process outsourcing (BPO) firms are looking for at least 3,000 workers aside from other job openings, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Friday.

In a social media post, the agency's Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) said there are 3,043 vacancies at the BPO industry during the period Sept. 30 to Oct. 6.

This is followed by production machine operators with 3,032 employment openings.

Meanwhile, other companies are also looking for 2,512 customer service assistants and 1,007 quality assurance inspectors.

There are also 1,004 jobs available for production workers.

The BLE said the figures came from the different Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) nationwide.

Interested jobseekers are advised to coordinate with the PESO in their area.

On Thursday, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that the unemployment rate for August was at 5.3 percent or 2.68 million jobless individuals.

The figure is higher than the 5.2 percent recorded in July or 2.60 million unemployed Filipinos. (PNA)
