MANILA – Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo sought the support of lawmakers for the implementation of key programs of the agency.

Tulfo made this remark in a courtesy call with Senator Robinhood Padilla at the department's central office on Thursday.

In a statement Friday, the DSWD said Tulfo gave the senator’s team a brief orientation on the components of the DSWD’s big-ticket programs such as the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), and Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS).

Joining Tulfo were Undersecretary for Social Welfare and Development Sally Navarro, Assistant Secretary for Statutory Programs Elaine Fallarcuna, Assistant Bureau Director and concurrent Officer-in-Charge Division Chief of the Crisis Intervention Unit Rolando Villacorta, SLP National Program Manager Edmon Monteverde, and KALAHI-CIDSS National Program Manager Ma. Consuelo Acosta.

Meanwhile, Padilla showed great interest and willingness to help DSWD achieve its mandate and also promised to support the department’s general objective of uplifting the well-being of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized Filipino families. (PNA)
