MANILA – The Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) has partnered anew with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for the 2022 Search for Outstanding Government Workers which aims to recognize deserving public servants who excel in their respective fields or who serve as models of exemplary behavior.

The OPS said the annual search is part of the government’s rewards and incentives mechanism under the Honor Awards Program (HAP).

There are three award categories: the Presidential Lingkod Bayan (PLB) Award and the CSC Pagasa Award for outstanding work performance, and the Outstanding Public Officials and Employees or the Dangal ng Bayan (DNB) Award for exemplary behavior.

The PLB Award is conferred on an individual or group of five members for exceptional or extraordinary contributions resulting from an idea or performance that had nationwide impact on public interest, security, and patrimony.

On the other hand, the CSC Pagasa is conferred on an individual or group of five members for outstanding contribution/s resulting from an idea or performance that directly benefits more than one department of the government.

Meanwhile, the DNB Award is conferred on an individual for the performance of an extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of observance of the eight norms of conduct provided under Republic Act 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Like in the past, the OPS -- through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine Broadcasting Services (PBS), People’s Television (PTV-4) and the Philippine News Agency (PNA) of the News and Information Bureau (NIB) -- is supporting the HAP through information dissemination of the semi-finalists of each category.

This ensures a wider coverage of the semi-finalists, and a higher number of public feedback -- whether positive or negative -- to assist the Committee on Awards in the deliberation process.

The PNA, through NIB Director Raymond Burgos, has already firmed up its support for disseminating information on the semi-finalists.

It is now just waiting for the CSC to submit the list of the contenders in each category, along with the necessary details and materials for dissemination.

The PNA is the Philippine government’s official web-based newswire service that provides timely, factual and objective news and information to its subscribers, readers and a host of other clients here and abroad.

Thus, it also enjoys wide readership in Filipino communities around the world.

At present, PNA maintains an active news sharing agreements with other news agencies, mostly also state-owned, which are also members of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA). These include Bernama (Malaysia), Antara (Indonesia), Kyodo (Japan), Xinhua (China), Yonhap (Korea), Press Trust India (PTI), Anadolu Agency (Turkey) and TASS (Russia), among others.

PNA also has news exchange and cooperation agreements with China Radio International, Xinhua News Agency (China), Sputnik (Russia), Emirates News Agency, Sputnik News Agency (Russia), DUNA Media Service (Hungary) and Belt and Road News Alliance (BRNA). BRNA in an international news media association composed of 63 founding members from 35 countries and regions. (PNA)
