TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat – Five suspected drug peddlers were killed and PHP370,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized during an anti-illegal drug operation in Lambayong town of this province, police said Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg,  Soccsksargen region police director, identified the slain suspects as Adhen Salbo, Razul Luyugan Dalandang, Ivan Kilapan Macmod, Nasrudin Banto Abdilla, and Sadam Mamadtud Abdul, all of Barangay Pimbalayan, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat.

Salbo was the subject of search warrant on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Macaraeg said the Lambayong police, with by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, military, and various police units at the provincial and regional level, were to serve the warrant against Salbo when a firefight erupted.

“As our troops were approaching the village, Salbo and his four male companions deliberately opened fire that prompted the authorities to retaliate,” he said.

Meanwhile, Loy Salbo, brother of Adhen Salbo, also a subject of the writ, eluded arrest.

Macaraeg said after clearing the area, the operatives recovered a huge sachet of suspected shabu weighing about 50 grams, a 12-gauge shotgun, three .45-caliber pistols, a homemade Ingram machine pistol, an M16 rifle, ammunition, and magazines.

He said a case for violation of RA 9165 against Loy Salbo is being prepared for regular filing at the provincial prosecutor’s office in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat. (PNA)
