MANILA – National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Joeben Tai on Thursday conducted site inspections of various housing projects in Silay City and Bacolod City, both in Negros Occidental.

"I intend to inspect NHA projects across regions. Nakapunta na po tayo sa (We have visited in) Regions I, III, IX, and this time Region VI,” Tai said in a news release.

“Ini-isa isa po namin ang mga projects to monitor and see kung kumusta ang projects natin para alam natin kung ano dapat ang i-improve at mga project na puwede nating gawin (We visited the projects one by one to monitor and see what’s the status of the projects so we know what should be improved and the projects can already proceed) for next year," he added.

During the project inspection, Tai met with NHA Region VI Manager Rizalino Cabahug, who discussed his plans to improve the quality of housing projects in the region.

Among the projects visited by the NHA chief were the Ledesma Residences Site 1 and 2, Bonbon Village Phase 2 & 3, both in Silay City, Masskara Village in Bacolod City, and Vista Alegre Homes in Talisay City.

Ledesma Residences 1 and 2 are NHA projects under its Calamity Housing Program intended for the 1,992 survivor families of Typhoon “Yolanda,” comprising single-story row houses each with a 26-sqm floor area.

The Bonbon Village Phase 3 is a land development project of the NHA under its Resettlement Assistance Program for the Local Government Units (RAP-LGU), wherein the NHA provided a P24 Million funding assistance to LGU.

The housing units were constructed by Habitat for Humanity.

On the other hand, the Masskara Village and Vista Alegre Homes are NHA housing projects under its Government Employees Housing Program (GEHP).

It will benefit the government's 1,240 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Tai said that the NHA, under his leadership, would finish all projects under the Yolanda Housing Program before the end of the Marcos administration.

"NHA shall continuously partner with the local governments and other agencies to expedite its project completion," he added.

Likewise, Tai joined the ceremonial raffle of 26 housing units in Ciudad Felisa, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The units were raffled off to 13 applicants from the Philippine National Police (PNP). Tai also distributed Certificates of Lot Awards to 15 other PNP officers during the visit. (PNA)
