PH bags four medals at Asian Pencak Silat Championships

MANILA – The Philippines has pocketed four medals, including one gold, at the start of the 6th Asian Pencak Silat Championships at the Sher-i Kashmir Indoor Stadium in Srinagar, India on Friday.

Alfau Jan Abad and Almohaidib Abad topped the men's double artistic (Seni Ganda Putra) event.

The Filipinos also bagged two silver medals courtesy of Edmar Tacuel in the men's solo artistic (Seni Tunggal Putra) contest, and the women's trio artistic (Seni Regu Putri) team of Jessa Dela Cruz, Ziara Mari Oquindo, and Franchette Anne Tolentino.

Jan Abad added a bronze in the men's solo artistic (Seni Bebas Putra) event.

"We're happy because all the artistic athletes that came here won medals," said Inier Candor, Philippine Pencak Silat Association secretary general, in an online interview on Saturday.

Some 150 athletes from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Nepal, the Philippines, and host India are taking part in the six-day tournament. (PNA)
