MANILA – Guam stunned the Philippine women's futsal team, 1-0, in the first match of their weekend friendly series at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila on Saturday night.

Koharu Minato silenced the home crowd inside the arena as she slotted the lone goal of the match in the 36th minute en route to the upset.

Guam is currently unranked while the Philippines is World No. 54.

"This win means a lot to us, especially for Guam. We hope that this continues to inspire and give the fans something to be excited about, to really believe in what we can be doing, especially if this is a consistent program," Guam coach Ross Awa said.

The two teams face off again at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Pinay5 is made up of players from Metro Manila teams that saw action in a pocket tournament held at University of Asia & the Pacific in Pasig City from July to August. (PNA)
