DAVAO CITY – At least 817 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases have been tallied in Davao Region from Oct. 10 – 17, the regional Department of Health office (DOH-11) said Thursday.

In its weekly bulletin, DOH-11 said the latest number is lower by 1.1 percent compared to 826 cases reported from Oct. 3-9.

Only 69 out of the 567 Covid-19 admissions are severe and critical, with nine actual death cases recorded in the past seven days, the agency said.

Also, the healthcare utilization showed the regional hospital capacity at 40.6 percent for non-intensive care unit (ICU) bed use and 53.9 percent for ICU bed use.

“The public is reminded to continue practicing minimum public health standards: wear the best-fitted mask, isolate when sick, double up protection with vaccination and boosters, and ensure good airflow,” DOH-11 said.

It noted that Covid-19 vaccination efforts are continuing throughout the region.

As of Oct. 17, DOH-11 recorded a total of 7,383,412 vaccine doses administered in the region.

Some 3.6 million individuals, or 94.4 percent, have received one dose of Johnson & Johnson's Janssen Covid-19 vaccines.

More than 3.3 million individuals have been fully vaccinated across the region, the DOH-11 said.

As for booster shots, around 17.0 percent or 645,115 individuals had received their first dose, while 3 percent or 115,347 were administered with second doses. (PNA)
