ABU DHABI – Russian mixed martial arts fighter Islam Makhachev defeated Brazilian Charles Oliveira to win the UFC lightweight title on Saturday.
The Russian fighter used an arm triangle choke to dethrone Oliveira.
Makhachev became the second Russian fighter to win the UFC lightweight title.
Previously, this title was owned by Khabib Nurmagomedov, who vacated it in 2020 after defeating Justin Gaethje. (TASS)
