MANILA – Expect some bloodshed when Kenjhons Serrano and Map Soberano collide in the main event of URCC 80: Bare Madness on Thursday night at the Xylo at the Palace in Taguig.

“It’s going to be a bloodbath,” the 39-year-old Soberano said. “I’m hoping he won’t be running around for entertainment. It will be entertaining if he’ll go toe-to-toe with me.”

Meanwhile, the 40-year-old Serrano insisted that his fists are too "hot" for Soberano to receive punches.

“I promise to show how I burn somebody like Map with my bare-knuckle flaming fists and people who do not see the value of life,” Serrano said.

The Serrano-Soberano showdown is one of the first four professional bare-knuckle boxing matches ever, which will all happen on Thursday night.

Kimbert Alintozon and JV Baldonasa will collide in the bare-knuckle 125-pound category, while Elias Duran and Ronnel Esperas will fight in the bare-knuckle 145-pound class and Rocky Vergara will battle Marvin Dela Cruz in another 125-pound bare-knuckle bout.

“Filipinos do love combat sports very much and we’re expecting that the first ever bare-knuckle fistfight to be held on Thursday in the Philippines will be a blockbuster,” URCC chairman Arnold Vegafria said. “This is going to be the first time here in the Philippines although it’s already being held in Europe and the US. So everyone is excited about this big event.”

“Here is another avenue for our countrymen to excel: bare-knuckle boxing. We have to prove to everybody that we Filipinos are the real boss when it comes to real fist, and we’ll show it in our first ever bare-knuckle fight in our country,” URCC president Alvin Aguilar added.

Three mixed martial arts battles are also scheduled at URCC 80.

Ruel Catalan will meet Edrion Macatangay in flyweight action, while Jayson Margallo will face Wilson Managuio and John Ornido will square off with Janedie Bernardo in the bantamweight division.

The action-packed event is presented by Angkas, supported by ALV, Unique Water, Bench and Winzir. (PNA)
