5 fugitives wanted for rape nabbed in CIDG ops

MANILA – Five most wanted persons (MWPs) wanted for rape and sexual abuse charges were arrested in operations on Monday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported on Tuesday.

In a statement, CIDG chief, Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said the suspects John Lester Gado, Jonathan Nolasco, Arnel Binas, Bernard Posadas, and a minor suspect were arrested during the simultaneous "Oplan Pagtugis".

Gado, ranked as the third most wanted person in Batangas, was arrested in Barangay Piña, Taysan, Batangas. He is chqrged with rape through sexual assault with a recommended bail of PHP200,000.

Nolasco, meanwhile, was arrested by the operatives of CIDG Cavite in Barangay Burol Main, Dasmariñas City. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

Binas, listed as the most wanted person at the Banga Municipal Police Station, was nabbed by members of the CIDG South Cotabato field unit. He is also the leader of the Nunoy Group, a newly identified criminal group involved in some rape cases in the town of Banga and nearby towns.

Posadas, ranked as the top 8 most wanted person in the province of Cavite, was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for acts of lasciviousness with PHP180,000 bail recommended.

Meanwhile, members of the CIDG Occidental Mindoro arrested a 17-year-old suspect for statutory rape in Purok 6B, Barangay San Roque, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, by virtue of a warrant of arrest for the crime of statutory rape with no bail recommended. (PNA)
