TACLOBAN CITY – Policemen seized PHP1 million worth of shabu from riding in tandem at a checkpoint along a highway in Babatngon, Leyte on Thursday.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the illegal drug carrier as Reynante Ordoña, 53; and Marlito Dollete, 49, both residents of Carigara town and are included on the list of high-value targets.

Operatives from the Babatngon municipal police station in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized the shabu around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the District III checkpoint in Babatngon town.

In an update sent to reporters on Friday, police said the two men were flagged down and asked to present a driver's license but failed.

PNP personnel manning the checkpoint noticed that Ordoña was acting suspiciously and hiding something bulky under his pants.

After negotiation, he voluntarily yielded the box and open it, which contains three transparent plastic sachets of shabu weighing 150 grams with a street value of PHP1,050,000.

The police turned over to PDEA the confiscated substance for examination.

Arrested suspects are detained at the Babatngon police station while a case of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspects. (PNA)
