QC cops nab 246 in weeklong anti-criminality ops

MANILA – A total of 246 persons were arrested during the weeklong anti-illegal drugs and criminality operations in Quezon City from Oct. 24-30.

In a statement Tuesday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said a total of 37 anti-drug operations led to the arrest of 79 drug suspects and seizure of 79.47 grams of shabu valued at PHP540,396 and 50.30 grams of marijuana valued at PHP6,036.

Some 72 fugitives were also arrested, including 32 most wanted persons.

Meanwhile, a total of 30 anti-illegal gambling operations resulted in the arrest of 95 gamblers and confiscation of PHP17,275 bet money while 8,184 violators of city ordinances were accosted -- 6,583 of whom were warned while 1, 601 were fined. (PNA)
