MANILA – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has released over PHP40.51 million in medical assistance to a total of 5,269 eligible beneficiaries nationwide for the period Oct. 24 to 28, 2022.

Citing the latest data released on Thursday, the state lottery agency said the funds were released to beneficiaries through its Medical Access Program (MAP).

In Luzon, the beneficiaries include 745 indigents from the National Capital Region who received PHP10.7 million worth of assistance; 1,623 from Northern and Central Luzon who were given PHP11.8 million while 1,540 from the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region who received PHP9.4 million.

In the Visayas, 1,184 individuals were provided with PHP7.2 million in medical aid while 177 individuals received PHP1.1 million in Mindanao.

The MAP, formerly known as the Individual Medical Assistance Program, is designed to augment medical assistance for indigent Filipinos, particularly for hospital confinement, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medicines.

The program is funded by revenues from PCSO games nationwide. (PNA)
